The first thing I have to say because its probably the most important thing I can tell you is to get educated before you even decide to possibly buy anything telling you "Make 250,000 Now!" Education is very important before you jump in and get your hands wet. There are a lot of courses online, articles, programs and videos that teaches you this. Some of them free and some of them not. I have decided to try affiliate marketing, I have not achieved success to the point of "Wow! I just made 800 dollars!" No, not quite there yet. Reason being because I am still trying to get educated the best I can, I don't want to make any more mistakes than I already have.

I quite my job to accomplish working at home, might of been a bad decision, might of been good. I don't really know yet. I have days where I lose motivation because I do not get sales like crazy. I'm no expert but I'm not a phony either. The main thing though is dedication. If you can't dedicate yourself to make that first sale, then it probably won't happen for a long time. Hard work, motivation and free time are essential for starting up. Now luckily for me where I am currently unemployed I have all of the above. And because I know it won't happen, I don't believe in making money overnight. Reason being because it takes work, and when you press that elusive "Buy" button on a product that you are not sure of you could get unhappy fast. Trust me I have been there, and it sucks, a lot... I have not yet sat and reviewed my bank account and visa to see how much I have spent for my online education or the typical "buy this and make 200 dollars a day" I will be reviewing it though. Only some of the stuff I paid for was worth it, the rest was a joke, literally. So hopefully by reading this no one dives right in and starts doing what I did, impulse buying. That's actually my own problem I need to conquer though, but it can burn a hole in your wallet if you are not careful.

The next piece of information I want lay before you is very important. If you are not sure about the online business and how you want to join or start up your own than join a forum. Forums are always very helpful, I am a member of two for work at home and they have both helped me understand things a bit clearer. Doing some research on Google is ok too, but make sure its only research, sometimes one review of a product may be good and other times you can catch not so good reviews.

Last on the list is trust. Its best to find a trustworthy resource. My main project right now is to make a review site of sorts. I already have paid for all of this, but its still under development. When its ready I will share it with the web and probably post a article about it. My site will only have reviews on things I have already bought and used myself. I made the decision weeks ago that I was not going to lie to anyone. People new to online marketing do not need that. I have been lied to before and trust me when all you are trying to do is earn extra cash or start a simple online business its not right to be let down and lied to by those programs or people.

I hope my thoughts here today have helped, like I said I am not an expert, but not a phony either.

The internet is the wave of the future. More and more people are looking to the internet to help make them successful. Why not? Everyone know days has access to a computer and the internet which makes Starting a Business from Home that much more appealing. Now there are many programs out there that are scams so this is where it become tricky. It is easy to get sucked in to something that won't help you make money in the long run. You must find a program that gives great support either through a forum, email or phone that will allow you to address your questions and problems. That is the most important. A strong support system that gives help and assistance in starting a Home Business shows that that particular program is successful and has allowed many people to profit from it.

Just like any other Business there are many challenges in running a proven home based business. It might be difficult at first but keep at it. I would like to believe that the majority of us love the idea of running your own business or working for yourself. Personally, I was one of those people who didn't like getting up in the morning to go and work for someone else. The only way out was by employing myself or starting my own legitimate small business. The majority of us really like this sort of independence that comes with owning your own business, but we are not courageous enough to make the move or necessary step to better our careers. Its only those who try and actually do something about it who end up independent and financially free. We obviously know that nothing comes to you but you have to go out there and get what you want. If you try and hang around with these guys you are building yourself for failure. There are a lot of free resource organisations that can help you start and build you business from scratch. If you are going to pay someone make sure they are recognised and they are not going to take your money from you.

A lot of people think you need thousands of dollars to start a business. You can actually start a business on a shoe string budget. There are a lot of businesses you can start with close to nothing. Personally, I started my business with only a hundred dollars but at the moment I'm surviving pretty well.

I always liked natural products. Every time I go shopping I always end up in a natural products boutique. I could make a business out of my passion. Why not? Just Go Media

This was presented to me as an alternative to Google's Adsense, but I include it here as a cautionary note.

I, and it seems a lot of other people, were contacted about the schem in October by a lady called Esther, from Just Go Media. It sounded good, so I swapped out some Google adverts and ran these new adverts.

My thinking was that it's better not to have all of your eggs in one basket - split the adverts between 2 suppliers for safety.

But in December, I was alerted to the fast that the reports had stopped showing any more income - and I was not the only person. Basically, I and other people had been removed from the adverts by Just Go Media, but not been told that it had happened. As it was, my earnings hadn't been great, but others had almost reached the payout point at the time when the adverts were pulled (another link here).

So don't put all of your eggs into 1 basket - make sure that you are using several schemes - at least until you have confidence in how each works.

TradeDoubler

A third affiliate scheme to consider.

TradeDoubler is another high profile scheme with absolutely loads of merchants to work with.

TradeDoubler has so many merchants to join that even after a few years of using them, I've hardly scratched the surface of the big and small names they work with. The downside of the TradeDoubler network is that all merchants have to accept your application and if you are working with multiple sites, then you have to apply to each merchant for each site.

But the choice of merchants is fantastic. The only other problem is they do have about the slowest of the payment schedules of the three schemes - for some merchants.

The merchants can either prepay or not. Those that prepay deposit with TradeDoubler and when you earn a commission, it's in a pending status for a short while then it's ready for payment in the next payment schedule.

But the majority of the merchants I use aren't on this scheme. Instead these are invoiced after the transaction and should pay TradeDoubler by a certain date, which allows you to be paid by TradeDoubler a couple of months after the transaction. For example, in theory, commissions earned in October are invoiced in November asnd paid in December. But sometimes merchants pay late, which means affiliates being paid late. One commission for £120 earned in October is still waiting to be paid now - hopefully it will be paid late February.

But that's not the norm. Most TradeDoubler transactions are paid to me within the two months time scale, so with the variety and payments on offer, it is well worth joining.

Affiliate Future

Continuing the look at affiliate schemes for those wishing to earn an income from a website.

Affiliate Future - this was another I joined several years ago and my commissions here have peaked and troughed as I have changed my emphasis on what types of sites I'm promoting.

Affiliate Future is really great for most people considering getting into affiliate schemes. There is a reasonably large range of merchants and every one that I've joined has always been on auto accept - there is no waiting for merchants to review and accept your website. You don't even need to list all of your websites.

Affiliate Future is especially good if you are working in the travel industry. There's an excellent range of top name brands from the travel industry on their website.

I've always found Affiliate Future easy to use with regular payments. Their schemes don't match too closely to my needs at the moment, but when I can use their merchants they are always good.

Affiliate Window

If you already run a website or blog with traffic, then one of the easiest ways to earn some cash can be by including Affiliate Scheme Adverts. Here are some of the popular schemes that I currently successfully use:

Affiliate Window - About the first affiliate scheme I joined was Affiliate Window. Since I've joined they had made the application process a little more difficult, so I tend to advise my web design customers to wait until their websites are established before applying here, but Affiliate Window does have an excellent range of merchants - a wide variety of categories with plenty of choice.

On every corner of the internet your read horror stories about people becoming victims to all types of Online Business Scams. I decided to stop looking on the internet and go straight to the experts mouth to get reliable information from people who are already making money online. I asked them "Can you recommend legitimate online programs, from the ones you used when you first started out to the ones you use today?"

The first online business I got into was an affiliate program and I advertised it like crazy, this affiliate program was Success University "I make allot of profit with this program". An affiliate program for those who don't know is simply selling big companies product or services for a commission. This is great for individuals now starting out online because what you do is simply sell, you're not responsible for deliveries, collecting payments, stocking and all those business related duties. I then started selling website hosting for Host4Profit and continually make money every month. Then concentrated on list building. Now I have my own product and now get affiliates to sell for me.

I first started out designing websites. This provided me steady income but not enough to support my family on a full time basis, After that I got into auctioning on eBay but I still was not making enough. I combined these two strategies and then joined an affiliate program at Get Response; this company offers auto responder services that pays a monthly commission on every sale. I am now making a nice monthly residual income with these programs. Right now I am bringing in another affiliate called Empowerism.

Well, it took a little time for me to turnaround my first real profit, not to mention a good amount of work. I got into nearly everything that an Online Businessman can imagine...well nearly everything. The very first thing I did was to write an e-book. To this day I'm still a big fan of selling information products, I also promoted Action figures through ebay and said to myself: nice this is a great way to make lots of money, what next can I do? I then got into an affiliate marketing program called SFI Marketing which has paid great also.

It's hard to recommend any one program because in my personal experience, I found that my success or failure have nothing to do with if the method really worked, but whether or not I belonged in what I was selling. Some people will never be good in certain areas so don't feel afraid to move about and try different programs until you find something that works for you. Always remember to be a success at anything takes time, money and effort so work hard, be patient and you will see results.
